A few concerns have been raised over the potential risk of bacteria build up in their natural notches and grooves, but again, as long as you properly clean your boards, they can be safely used for serving food.

How do you clean wooden serving boards?

To ensure your boards are food safe, wash them in warm water with an antibacterial washing up liquid. Using a scourer is also a good idea, as this will allow you to get into those natural grooves and notches, preventing any bacterial build up.
